There’s a question you should be asking yourself before every bet you place.
And that is, Is the price right?
No, I’m not talking about the game show…
Although if you happen to catch the Portuguese version of the show, O Preco Certo, with the cheery and chubby host, Fernando Mendez, you should get a good laugh.
Anyway, Portuguese game shows aside…
When you ask yourself if the price is right? – before you place a bet, you are determining whether or not the odds on offer for the horse you are about to bet on are high enough to justify betting on that horse.
You wouldn’t pay £5000 for a car, if you only thought it was worth £3000.
And following that same logic, you shouldn’t be betting on a horse that you think should be a 5/1 shot, if you can only get odds of 3/1.
If you want to make money from your betting (and who doesn’t?), you should only bet when the odds are in your favour.
And if you’re not sure whether or the odds are in your favour, why not follow the advice of someone who does.
