And you’ll probably also know how much the bookmakers dislike people placing these bets and how they will be quick to limit stakes, and sometimes even shut down the accounts, of people who place these kind of bets too often.
But what if there was a way to take advantage of these bets without even using a bookmaker?

The reason why these bad each way bets are profitable is because the method the bookmakers use to calculate their place odds on each ways bets is inaccurate. This means that they end up offering favourable place odds on each way bets when betting on second and third favourites in races with a very short priced favourite.
The place odds market at the betting exchanges usually show a much more accurate picture of what the places odds really should be.
However, because of this bad each way bet phenomenon, I have often found that the place odds available at the betting exchanges on horses that make a value each way bet are often artificially inflated.
And I’ve even found it to be the case that is actually profitable to simply back a horse who makes a good “bad” each way bet to place at the betting exchanges.
Meaning that it is possible to benefit from these “bad” each way bets, without incurring the wrath of the bookies.
